    Process

    Concrete polishing is a multi-step process that strengthens and densifies your concrete floor. It begins with our team cleaning and inspecting your concrete for damage. If any damage, such as cracks or chipping, is discovered, we’ll need to repair it before moving forward in the process. We’ll repair any cracks with an injectable epoxy filler and fix chipping areas with a concrete patch to stop this damage from spreading. With all repairs completed, we can begin the rough grind.
    This is a three to four-step process that is designed to remove any minor blemishes, light stains and prep the surface for fine polishing. We typically start with a 30- or 40-grit diamond grinding wheel fitted on a floor grinder. With every pass we make over the floor, we’ll increase the grit and finish the rough grind with a 150-grit grinding wheel. Once the coarse grind is completed, we’ll seal the concrete with an impregnating sealer that strengthens and densifies the concrete from within. This sealer permeates the opened pores of the concrete to protect your floor from the inside out. After the sealer has been applied, we can begin the fine polish of the floor. Our team will start with a 200-grit polishing wheel and make four to five passes over the concrete. We usually finish the polishing with either a 1,500- or 3,000-grit polishing wheel, depending on the sheen level you want for your floor. Once the polishing is completed, your floor is ready for full use! Our team can also apply colors and patterns during this process if you’re looking for a more unique polished concrete floor. After the rough grind, we can use concrete stains to add some color and utilize stenciling or scoring to apply patterns to the floor. Once the stains and patterns are in place, we’ll continue with the normal polishing process to finish up the floor.
